Car Insurance Lincoln (Car Insurance). Where can I get a good front intercooler for my subaru wrx?Where can I get a good front intercooler for my subaru wrx? I am looking for a legibly good front intercooler system for my 2003 Subaru WRX. I've seen some for $250 and some for $1,400. I am looking for right around $1,000. Can I really get one for $250 or is that probably a junk one or even just a scam? If you're still on the stock turbo, then don't bother with the front mount. That small stock turbo will have to work that much harder to fill all that piping plus a big IC core, which means you will have that much longer until the onset of positive manifold pressure (boost). You can think of it as "more lag" from the turbo, without any real discernable benefit. Get a TurboXS or even an STi top mount and call it good. You'll spend half as much (or less), that you can spend on something more useful. The cheap Ebay ones have been proven to do okay but not flow as well as the brand name units. I personally have had good luck with Perrin products but any of the major manufacturers will do about as well as each other. If you are looking to save a few bucks, look through the classifieds on NASIOC. Might even find something local to you that you can look at before buying. Hope you have engine management and a tuner lined up too. Front mounts are not something yo can just bolt on. Also what sized turbo are you running? Anything smaller than a 20G will make plenty of power on a good top mount. Then you don't have to hack up your crash beam and bumper. Godspeed stuff is not so bad. Otherwise Perrin and Cobb will have the best "bang for your buck" with intercoolers. Paying 2k for an ARC intercooler is pretty stupid in my opinion...it looks nice but it's going to do the same thing as the cheaper brands. Auto parts : Clutch Disc Acura 1995 . What settings should I use for my car stereo? What settings should I use for my car stereo? Right now I have a alpine CDE-100 deck (which has a 2 volt pre-out), a kenwood 9105d amp (900 watts @ 2ohms) , and a pioneer ts-w3004spl (1000 watts rms, 3000max). The sub is inside of a 1.25 cubic foot box that I made. The box was put together airtight. Sound quality is a factor, though I would like it to be set as loud as possible. The setup is in a 93 camry. The inside speakers are rather shot, and from 0 to 40, I can turn the radio to about 26ish when the speakers sound like crap. At 26, the volume is loud enough in the car, I suppose, until I can get new speakers inside. My goal is to get the most out of the sub at about volume 26. I saw somewhere that I need to take the rms of the amp, multiply by the ohms, then get the square root for the max voltage. I took my 900 watts rms, multiplied by the 2 ohms, and got 1800 (which is my max watts for the amp funny enough) . The square root I got was 42.426. What I did then was set my volume at 26, put in some music, and adjusted the gain to get apx. 42 volts at the "bumps". This fluctuates, and I have seen this jump up to 44, though not very often. I have also found that I am supposed to take a constant hz ( i.e. 43 ) , and play that instead of normal music. The problem I have with that is its not that loud for music in general. Even with me setting this to the fluctuating bass in normal music, I am content, but I feel as I could use more. I know the best answer is to go buy more subs or amps, but I do not have the money for this. Any help would be great. Overall, I am looking for loud, although sq is a plus... car insurance. Lincoln . How to Troubleshoot Engine CoughingCar problems can be scary. When your vehicle begins to behave alternately from what you expect, you never know firsthand what the issue may be or even if your car will last the week. Learning to troubleshoot issues is a good way to gain confidence in controlling your vehicle's health. A major area of concern is engine coughing. Troubleshooting that is a priority as it deals with your engine's performance. The process is relatively simple. Difficulty:Easy Instructions Step by Step : 1 Run the vehicle daily for 15 minutes or once a week for about a half-hour to avoid accumulation of dust and air bubbles in the fuel line. 2 Start the vehicle and let it run for a while. If the vehicle coughs at startup and tapers off after running for a while, you likely have bad gas. Run the tank to almost empty before refilling and add some fuel cleaner to the tank. 3 Check your air filter to determine if it is clogged or damaged; it could be choking the engine or allowing debris to pass through. Replace the damaged or clogged air filter and add some fuel cleaner on your next fill-up. 4 Idle the vehicle to determine if the fuel pump is failing, if the fuel line is clogged or if the injectors are damaged or dirty. If the vehicle has a carburetor and the vehicle coughs when idling, the carburetor could be damaged or clogged. 5 Drive the vehicle. If the engine is coughing while driving and not at idle, the issue is almost certainly dirt and debris in the fuel line. Run the tank dry and add fuel cleaner to the next fill-up. Tips & Warnings Before approaching a professional to repair the engine, always try to run the tank dry and add fuel cleaner to the next fill-up. If the issue persists, consult a professional. Do not attempt to repair any fuel lines, carburetors or other parts of the engine without proper training. Contact a professional -- working with fuel lines can be highly dangerous.
Lincoln . How to Troubleshoot Isuzu Alternator ProblemsIsuzu is a Japanese vehicle manufacturer that made its introduction into the American marketplace in the 1980s with the Pup. Its Trooper and Rodeo were popular among American buyers; but as the economy began to depress and customers turned their attention to competing companies, Isuzu announced it would withdraw from American soil in 2009. If your Isuzu is having issues with power and starting, the alternator may be at fault. Be sure to test it as well as the battery to make sure both can handle your engine's needs. Difficulty:Moderate Instructions Things You'll Need Voltmeter Step by Step : 1 Lift the hood and inspect the alternator. The alternator is a belt-driven, round, metal engine component. Look for signs of exterior damage, including corrosion, rust, missing bolts and a broken belt. Also inspect the battery cable connections to make sure they are secure and clean so the power from the alternator can be delivered efficiently. 2 Crank the engine and listen for noises coming from the alternator. An alternator in good condition shouldn't produce noises; if it is, this can mean the diodes have shorted out, the internal machinery is rubbing or the pulley that spins the belt is bent. Take the alternator to a repair shop for further diagnostics. 3 Remove the battery cover. Touch the positive, red test lead of a voltmeter to the positive battery post, then the negative, black test lead to the negative post, in that order, while the engine is running. Since the alternator is supplying the battery with power while the engine is cranked, the voltmeter will pick up the alternator's voltage output instead of the battery's. A healthy alternator reading is between 13.6 and 14.3 volts. Tips & Warnings Check the battery's output as well, just in case the battery is too drained to accept a charge from the alternator. Touch the voltmeter's positive test lead to the positive battery post and the negative to the negative, this time with the engine off. The battery should test between 12.5 and 12.8 volts. Look for signs of an acid leak before handling the battery. Pour baking soda over any suspected spills and wear gloves to protect your hands. *Dealing with an overfilled joint isn't terribly pleasant — it's time-consuming and messy — so be careful to squeeze the grease in a little at a time. I know this because I've done it, and those teeny greasy zerk fittings are hard to hang on to. But if you goof, take heart. If "Thumbs" Sclar can do it, so can you! 7. If one or more of your ball joints boots has burst, have it (or them) replaced immediately. The parts that these joints protect get a lot of action, and you can be in for a very expensive job (or risk losing your ability to steer) after a very short trip on a nonfunctioning ball joint. 2 CQ Part III: Keeping Your Car in Good Condition, System by System \V ^ When you buy a new vehicle, ask the service manager if there are any trouble "~^ spots on the model that may benefit from having grease fittings inserted. I had several installed on my new truck for very little money. If you have a persistent squeak, you may want to find out whether having a grease fitting installed in the area will quiet things down. Lubricating the Suspension System The suspension system technically includes the steering linkage, but in my mind, it's easier to deal with these things in terms of the functions they perform. Therefore, try to see the steering linkage as being concerned with the horizontal directions in which the car can go (left and right) and the suspension system as being concerned with the vertical movement (up and down) of the car as it travels over the road. The following sections detail how to lubricate parts of your suspension system. (If the suspension system itself gets out of whack, get a professional to diagnose and deal with the trouble.) 777

These can be coil springs, leaf springs, torsion bars, or air springs. Some cars have leaf springs at the rear wheels and coil springs at the front wheels. Some luxury cars, full-size trucks, and buses have air suspension systems. For more detailed information about each type of spring, see Chapter 11. The following list explains what you need to lubricate and how to do it, depending on the type of spring that you have: " Leaf springs: Each end of a set of leaf springs is attached to the frame at the rear of the car with fittings that enable the springs to bend and move freely. These fittings usually have rubber bushings that enable the fittings to bend and twist freely and also absorb some of the vibration and prevent it from reaching the passenger compartment (see Figure 16-6). If your leaf springs have more than one leaf per side, called multiple leaf springs, there may be a piece of plastic between the leaves. That plastic, called a slipper, can be lubed with suspension grease to prevent noise as the leaves slide over one another during jounce and rebound. . (Figures 16-7 and 16-8 show where the ball joints and bushings are on coil springs.) Sometimes these coil springs have rubber cushions at the top and bottom. If the coil springs are making noise, you can lube them with grease where they sit at the top and bottom. Use spray-on grease from an aerosol-type dispenser.
